23/07/2019
  • If you need photos for your website and you do not know where to find them, we show you 10 sites where you can download from completely free.

  • Is it hard for you getting images that are worthwhile for your eCommerce or site? So, pay attention to these 10 very interesting sites where to find free and very cool stock photos
  • Comments about Creative Commons

  • I will not gabble so much, but I think it is important to point out something before going deeper. You may have heard about Creative Commons license. I am going to clarify in case you in case you are not sure about what they are.

Creative Commons is an association that aims to promote culture through a legal framework that empowers creatives to share their works. There are 6 types of licenses more or less restrictive (some allow to carry out derivative works and others don´t, and the same happens with the commercial use).

As I already said, I am not going to gabble anymore because the license that interests us most is the so called Creative Commons or CC0. Works under this license can be copied, modified and distributed without any problem for any purpose (including commercial) so they are of public use and the one we would mostly recommend.
  • Now it is time: 10 websites with free and very cool stock photos

  • #1 – Unsplash

  • One of my favorite due to the quality of the works you can find here. Of course they are high resolution photographs, so you had better reduce their weight enough before using them online because they weigh a lot.

You can navigate on Unsplash using its browser, which is quite efficient, or take a look at the thematic collections in case you need more than an image related to a theme.

Download the photos you need, edit and share them for free. They are freely attributable, so they do not require you to quote the author or the source, but it is always consider as a courtesy.
  • #2 – Pexels

  • Pexels is less artistic than Unsplash but also has a good catalog.

As it works in a very similar way, I will highlight some of the differences or functionalities such as the possibility of searching by colors

They work hard with their community of creators through contests that motivate the creation of new exclusive content.
  • #3 – Pixabay

  • This is also a very complete service. In addition to all that you can find in the other options that we have mentioned before, on Pixabay you also have available as categories illustrations, vector graphics (in AI format) and short videos.

When downloading, we can always choose, so we are gaining a certain amount of time when it comes to edit.
  • #4 – Publicdomainpictures

  • The truth is that the title speaks for itself, so you know what you can find: public domain images

Navigation is somewhat more uneasy and you have to search more than in other options, but you can find some good free stock images. If you are willing to pay, there is a professional photo section at Publicdomainpictures.net.
  • #5 - Gratisography

  • They define themselves as the most peculiar image bank. Maybe not in terms of operation and interface because it is very similar to the rest, but the truth is that its photos do fulfill what they promise.

The truth is that Gratisography does not have a huge catalog, but  what is un deniable is that their photos are different, so they can be of great use for some specific case.
  • #6 – Splitshire

  • Taking a look at Splitshire is also a good idea. They have "only" about 1,000 photos and videos so it may you take some time to find what you need, but it is another resource and the quality of its photos is quite interesting.
  • #7 – Stocksnap

  • Another image bank you can make use of. Now: do not expect anything especially exciting in terms of functionality or interface.

If I had to highlight something of Stocksnap would be the categorization of photos that is quite worked.
  • #8 –Realistic Shots

  • Here you will find a handful of interesting photos, few, but of quite good level in terms of quality. Go through them because in Realistic Shots you can find good images in the categories of architecture or nature
  • #9 – Magdeleine

  • This website of stock photos is characterized by the careful selection of its images. A job they presume to do by hand.

In general, the style and content type reminds me of Unsplash, the first webiste of this list. There are not too many, but photos of Magdeleine are well chosen
  • #10 – Kaboompics

  • Although I have not said, this list is not strictly a ranking. If it was, Kaboompics should be much higher for its own merit: good search engine, color filter and, what is more, you can choose directly the size you want to download the photo
  • What is the best website to get free photos?

  • The important thing is not the page you use, hat is really important is to have them controlled because trying the different portals for the same search you will find different results.

I do not mean you always have to look at the 10 options we have shared with you, but if you do not fiind exactly what you are looking at the first attempt, you can always consider other alternatives.
  • Where do you search for free stock images? Any websites you want to share with us?

  • Images | Kaboompics and webs linked.
