ChatGPT Prompts for eCommerce (1)

09/03/2023
  • We are going to talk about ChatGPT prompts for eCommerce. Let´s see what they are, how to use them and give you some examples. Welcome to AI.

  • Without a doubt, ChatGPT is today´s boom. We have already talked about the uses of ChatGPT for eCommerce in our blog, but now we are going to talk about it on a more practical level. To do this, we will get into the famous prompts, something basic if we want to interact with the quintessential self-generative artificial intelligence chat.
  • What is prompt?

  • All this has become mainstream very quickly, so we are still learning the basics of the tools. That is why many people are not clear on what prompts are, even though it is a word that is repeated all the time.

Basically, prompts are instructions that are entered into a computer system. In ChatGPT, a prompt has been assumed to be the content of the message you send to the chat to ask to give you an answer. Actually, as you can see, it does not mean exactly that, but it is useful for understanding.
  • Making useful prompts

  • Making useful prompts

Before going into their use for eCommerce, it is useful to make a small introduction to the way these instructions are built.

Everyone has already played with these Artificial Intelligences. We are all surprised by their power, but if you are one of those people who have doubts or are not convinced by the results, it may be because you are staying on the surface.

To get the most out of ChatGPT, Bard, MidJourney or whatever you want, you need to learn how to structure your prompts efficiently. I'm going to explain how I do it:

    • Act as: this is one of the keys. ChatGPT has the ability to interact in different ways. Ask it to do so based on what you need at any given moment.
    • Context: work this out in detail. If you give it a vague context, the results are not going to fit in with what you have in mind.
    • Audience: who is the final recipient of the message or content.
    • Give me/need: now is the time to be specific with what you need. I stress: specifics are necessary.
    • Specifics: by this I mean, for example, whether you need it to be a table or to be of a certain length or format.

Add to this a natural language in its syntax, not a list of keywords, and you have it. I assure you that I have noticed a leap in quality in the results obtained.

Let me give you an example:

Act as a copywriter specialized in online stores working for an eCommerce that sells curtains and blinds made to measure and manufactured in Spain. Give me the description for the product card of an opaque blind that filters sunlight and insulates thermally and acoustically. This product is available in white, black, charcoal gray and burgundy. I need it to be descriptive and have a length of 300 words with a persuasive tone.

Yes, it is a bit long, but it compares the result of a simple query:
  • To a query with an eCommerce oriented and more defined prompt:
  • As you can see, there are quite a few interesting nuances in the second version: it is more persuasive and the language is more suitable for an online store. It would totally change if instead of telling him to act as a copywriter, we told him to adopt the role of a decorator or a journalist specialized in trends.

Important: as you can see, you have to give it a once-over before uploading it anywhere. It tends to reiterate some ideas and, above all, words, so we run certain risks in terms of SEO and, in addition, they do not provide the best experience for the user. Nevertheless, it is a great starting point.
  • Prompts for eCommerce

  • Think about your needs carefully. An eCommerce needs many things: it would be a bit abstract to make "prompts for eCommerce" just like that. Do you want to write product sheets? Do SEO tags or keyword research? Define buyer personas? Create a newsletter?

There are so many options that you will have to work your prompts based on each of these needs. But I am going to make it a lot easier for you with a tool that works really well.

I am referring to AIPRM for ChatGPT, a Google Chrome extension that transforms ChatGPT into a marketing tool with dozens of predefined prompts (and it is totally free).

Once installed and activated, you will see that the main ChatGPT screen is modified. Now you will see a search engine with many options already created to get accurate results. As you can see, you have plenty of public prompts options ready to use.
  • Look at the above example of the opaque blind and how this prompt solves it. It directly optimizes it for SEO, giving you even the headings hierarchy.
  • Fantastic, isn't it? I just want to stress one important issue, even though I have already discussed it: these tools are great for marketing, but they need a LOT of manual review. For example: I would never use a text directly to create an SEO-oriented blog post, but I would use it to create a content calendar.
