Google My Business: how to make the most of it [with examples] (2)

03/11/2020
  • We are still willing to analyze Google My Business and take full advantage of your local strategy. Here are a few more tips and examples to follow. Are you interested? Then, check out what we have for you today!

  • A short time ago, we prepared the first part on Google My Business optimization in which we guided you through the first steps: we created the profile and the basic elements, which already made it look much more attractive
  • Making a difference with Google My Business

  • It is not just about "making it pretty". We really want a lot more. Our intention will always be to try to make it more useful for the client, to make it stand out among the different options and, in short, to help strategically to sell, positioning the brand.

The best way to see this is, of course, with an example of what we can find in any store we do a search on. In this case, we have done so with the keyword "supermercado" (one of the most fashionable and upwardly mobile niches, even during lockdown).
  • Just with those basics we talked about at the beginning (description of the business, schedules, pictures, phone and opinions), we are already transmitting much more.

While Sánchez Romero has carefully chosen their photos, Tradys has simply left the Google Streetview image in which, bad luck would have it, the trash cans come out first.

In addition, Sánchez Romero has included their website, which stimulates eCommerce from a local or retail strategy, and even highlights important attributes such as the possibility of click & collect and home delivery orders with Deliveroo.

It may seem a bit unfair comparison since they do not go to the same audience, and it is true. We are confronting a gourmet supermarket with a neighborhood food store, but... don't they compete for the same keywords? Aren't they in the same area? Obviously in a way they are.  This is especially true when there is an impulse to buy for convenience and proximity.
  • My Business Advanced Features

  • Next we are going to see some of the characteristics of Google My Business that come out of the standard and that, well played and optimized, make any commerce have a certain advantage over another.
  • Attributes

  • In the example we have just mentioned of the supermarket, we see how it highlighted with a check the possibility of collection in store.

There are a number of objective attributes that we can select from our profile. We only have to go to Configuration > Information > Attributes. There you will find a small label with the label "attributes" on which you must click to select those you want to include:
    • Featured
    • Service Options
    • Health and safety
Once the options are marked and the trade is verified, we can see how they appear in our Google My Business tab.
  • Publications

  • This feature is clearly unused by most eCommerce and businesses.

Basically, it allows us to publish our news with a considerable extension together with images. Yes, like a blog, but within the Google My Business tab itself, didn't you know?

Access it by the following route: Settings > Information > Publications. You have available by default a series of quite interesting categories with their own attributes:
    • Offers
    • News
    • Events
    • Products
With this, you are enriching enormously the amount of information that you offer to the clients, and, at the same time, you are maintaining a certain level of updating that will be very remarkable.
  • Messsages

  • Yes, it is clear that a large part of the traffic on Google My Business comes from mobile devices.

In many cases, the most helpful thing is to make a call, but... what if I told you that you could integrate a live chat system from here? It is as simple as going to Settings > Information > Messages and install the corresponding application from Play Store or Apple Store (depending on your operating system).

Once you have verified your profile and the application is installed, you can start receiving messages and thus increase the number of potential contacts.
  • If you have noticed the examples we have given, you have surely realized that most of them correspond to businesses outside our borders.

This is not by chance. You only have to do a couple of searches to see how far your competitors are missing out on the possibilities of this free service.

Optimize your Google My Business file today and find a way to grow in one of the most important search engines in the world -and the most used in the West by far.
  • Are you going to use these tips to take advantage of Google My Business? We want to see you on the maps!
