We talk with Rosa and Jordi, promoters of both physical and online Surrealism store.Their online store: http://www.surrealismstore.comSurrealism store is the online store of Llibreria Surrealist in Figueres.Llibreria Surrealist opened its doors to public in 1979,next to the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres. The designs created by Salvador Dalí himself to decorate the shop were adapted to the available space. The result is what we can see can today, a store which combines elegance with the contributions of the Empordà artistic genius.Today, Rosa will explain details about the physical store and why they decided to expand the business into the online world with Oleoshop.

How did you get to put together a business project with so many factors that are essential for this concept: the place (Figueres, and next to the Dalí Museum), an emblematic site where to start (the surrealist library) with and a so authentic art like Dali surrealism?In fact, the store was already working and we collaborated, we had the opportunity to take charge of it and we and we took advantage.We can imagine that having the store in a place so emblematic as the surrealist library is not easy to achieve. Do you know more about its history, and why was designed by the artist?Originally the store was set up by Salvador Dalí and his secretary Enric Sabater who formed a partnership to manage it. So the painter was involved in its design and created the shop decoration.The recognized figure of Dalí moves people from all parts of the world. There are many curious people who go into your physical store and decide to take a souvenir of the artist. Starting the online shop with the same concept is innovative, and it extends the business possibilities. How did you come up with the idea of doing it?Many customers asked us to send them their purchases home to avoid carrying them during their travels. This made us decide to start to study the possibility of starting the online store. We also believe that many of our products are ideal for sale online, due to its uniqueness, originality and creativity.As we see on the online store, you sell products of all kinds. From jewelry to games. What kind of gift is the most successful?We can distinguish two types of products, on the one hand the soft watches and elephants with giraffe legs inspired by the paintings of Salvador Dali, and on the other it is jewelry also inspired by Dalí´s work.And… considering the surrealism of the artist, what is the strangest product that can be found at Surrealism Store?With no doubt, the soft watches ceramic-made by a local craftsman. These are items that stand out.One of my favorites is a new collection of funny shirts for children and adults with “dalinized” animals we have developed together with the company Beee Tu, specialized in children's clothing.New ways of communication and marketing are very important to make known businesses as 'Visual' as yours. Do you think that it is vital to be on social networks to get new (or potential) customers?With no doubt, social networks offer an ideal tool to reach a much wider audience and be able to present our products.Why did you decide to create Surrealism Store online store with Oleoshop?
