Rask: An Ally for your eCommerce internationalization

08/06/2023
  • Rask is an application that helps you with your eCommerce internationalization, going much further than any online translator.

  • There's no doubt that we are experiencing an explosive moment in terms of technology. Every day, solutions are introduced to the market that would have seemed like science fiction just a year ago. However, not all of them are useful for an online store, or if they are, their impact is relatively small.

This is not the case with Rask because we're talking about software that allows us to dub our video content into over 60 different languages, while keeping a similar tone and tempo to that of the original narrator's voice.

How does it do this? That's right: with Artificial Intelligence, as you may have guessed.
  • What is Rask?

  • Behind this name, which doesn't convey anything special, lies one of the most powerful tools for translating and localizing the content of an eCommerce or any other digital resource.

It has many interesting options, but the most notable one is that it uses Artificial Intelligence to process any video content and automatically translate the text into the desired language. It emulates the voice of the narrator, adjust it to the timing and context of the video, and finally deliver the video adapted to different formats for various channels and platforms.

This is the main feature, but the tool is more comprehensive, as it has other very useful characteristics such as generating subtitles, transcribing and summarizing the content of a video into text, converting longer format videos into Shorts, Reels, or TikToks...
  • How does Rask work?

  • You simply need to sign up with an email address. This will give you access to a free version that is quite good, allowing you to fully translate videos up to 20 minutes in length.
  • Once the registration is complete, you will access the creation tool. It's a simple form that asks for:

    • A name for the project at hand
    • The language of the video
    • The language you want to translate it into
    • Uploading the video. You can do this by pasting a link where the content is located (it can be from YouTube or Google Drive with sufficient permissions), or by uploading it from your computer in any of the common formats. Remember: in the free version, you cannot exceed 20 minutes or 100 MB in size.
  • Once the entire process is done, a small player will be shown where you can compare the original with the translated result. After that, you just need to download it. In the paid version, you can even directly upload it to your channels from the Rask platform.
  • How can it internationalize my online store?

  • I'm sure you're already coming up with many ideas, but let's give you some specific advice for applying Rask to eCommerce.
  • #1 - Adapt multimedia content on your website

  • Surely, this has happened to you: you have a website in one language, the store grows, and then you decide to translate it into other languages. This is perfect, of course, but what about the videos you have on your website?

Translating the text is relatively easy, but if you have invested in creating product videos, corporate videos, or videos that serve as inspiration, it's a shame - and incoherent - to keep them in the original language.

With Rask, you can solve this problem and provide a better user experience than just adding subtitles.
  • #2 - Reach new audiences

  • Using videos in the language of our target audience not only makes us more appealing to their eyes, but also adds an extra level of trust. Additionally, it allows us to explore other platforms and advertising formats.

Would you put inset advertisement on YouTube in a language that your target audience doesn't understand? Would you promote content on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok that isn't comprehensible? You probably wouldn't consider it because you know it would hardly work.
  • #3 - Maximizing the return on content investment

  • A video that has been tested in one market can work in another. Starting from scratch and re-shooting it would be highly inefficient and quite expensive. A good solution could be to use Rask to give it an extra life in an economical way.
  • #4 - Customer support

  • Imagine creating a knowledge base in video format, with all the FAQs prepared so that any user who speaks any of those 60 languages can quickly and directly access them.

Undoubtedly, it's a resource to consider that provides a differential advantage because, in addition to being convenient for the user, it reduces the number of interactions that our team needs to handle.
  • #5 - Internal training

  • One of the keys to the success of any business is the training of its staff. Thanks to solutions like this, you can use content created by any expert and make it accessible to employees and collaborators of your eCommerce.

Furthermore, since the software adapts to the inflections of the original narrator's voice, the result is not a robotic and tedious text, which enhances message understanding.
  • What do you think of Rask? Do you think it could help with the internationalization of your eCommerce?
